Never be, always becoming

Tucholsky and day to day philosophy. Theory of Becoming, inception, things that are alive, things that move, mingle and survive.  Communicate.

When playing an instrument, one touches keys in a certain way. Whether it is harmony or chaos, it may be likeable both ways. Melody evolves and enacts certain emotions.

 “Ah,” she cried, “you look so cool.” Their eyes met, and they stared together at each other, alone in space. With an effort she glanced down at the table. “You always look so cool,” she repeated. (F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby)

Different media invite different degrees of participation on the part of a person who chooses to consume a medium. Some media, like the movies, were “hot”—that is, they enhance one single sense, in this case vision, in such a manner that a person does not need to exert much effort in filling in the details of a movie image. McLuhan contrasted this with “cool” TV, which he claimed requires more effort on the part of the viewer to determine meaning.

What, how and why fascinates us is a million dollar question. In the end it all comes down to a sum of individual experiences, pushing the bar while being an example. One cannot measure or explain feelings. It’s a feeling.
